Sweet Erma, Squirma

This morning we had to say goodbye to our baby kitty, Erma. Actually, just mommy and daddy said goodbye to her. Mommy and daddy had us say goodbye to Erma, but we thought it was just for the day while mommy took us to see Santa. Daddy was going to go with us to Santa, but had to stay home to take Erma to the vet. After Santa, Mommy let us play at Grandma's while mommy went back home to help daddy. This all started a couple weeks ago when Erma's eye starting bulging out. Daddy took her to the vet and they thought she had Glaucoma. After one day of treatment, daddy took her back to the vet for a pressure re-check. Her pressure had gotten worse. Daddy was sent to an eye specialist (who knew those existed for cats?!). The specialist thought she had a tumor, but there was a chance it was an infection. To determine if it was a tumor, we could remove the eye ($400) or have a cat scan done ($1,000). To determine if it was an infection, we could treat with antibiotics. We decided to treat with antibiotics. Evan and I had just both had pink eye and mommy was convinced Erma had just caught it. Well, here we are over a week later, and Erma's eye is not better. In fact, when daddy was examining her last night, he could feel the tumor in her cheek. And this morning, he could see it in her mouth when giving her medicine. It had actually broken through into her mouth. Daddy called the vet right away, thinking this was a good sign - it is a tumor, lets remove it now. Daddy took her into the vet, and to the contrary, this was a very bad sign. The vet said there's no way he could remove this tumor and she needed to be put to sleep. Erma will be greatly missed. While she stood her ground to anyone who entered our home, she loved the four of us dearly. She was a great kitty to Evan and I. She always warned us if she didn't want to play and never hurt us. There will never be another Erma. We love you and miss you terribly.
