Ultrasound

Today we woke up to snow. We had to go to school, but they did close early. Mommy was supposed to go to Memphis, but decided to delay a day. She went into the office and as school was closing received a call that Dr Fish had an opening and wanted to go over the heart monitor and get an Ultrasound of the heart done too. Off we go!

Dr Fish met a very long time with us explaining exactly what Kayla has, what it all means and what our options are. Basically, she can go on medication, but it won't fix her heart. Someday she would need a cardiac ablation procedure, but she could go on medicine in the meantime. The medicine could prevent another SVT, but can't guarantee that. Also, her condition could quickly escalate from an SVT into two other issues, which could lead to death. The second option we have is to have is to do the cardiac ablation now. This would entail an overnight stay in the hospital, anesthesia, three catheters inserted in her neck and each groin and burning of the electrical signal in the heart causing the problem. Mommy and daddy agreed it was an easy decision and scheduled the ablation for February 22nd.
